Many people complain about dining choices here in Leesburg and surrounding areas. I believe that we are blessed because everything and anything is available, within a relatively short driving distance.
In terms of pizza there are many different choices. Theres flatbreads, if you want to call that pizza, thin crust, New York style, and even thick deep dish Chicago Style.
Close by is Brooklyn Pizza. I have not had a bad pizza from Brooklyn. Twice, I had great pizza. Most of the time, it is very good, certainly worth the price. And for someone that wants to just bring home a pie, have a few drinks and watch a movie on a weekday night, you can't go wrong. Brooklyn Pizza even gives a break to Veterans. God bless them.
But if I want the real deal. If I want pizza made the old fashion way, and served up with a flavorful, potent pint of home brew, I make a pilgrimage to Clermont Brewing Company, CBC for short.
Conveniently located in old town Claremont, with plenty of free parking, CBC serves the best, authentic pizza for miles around. The crust, the toppings, and most importantly -- the oven have all been purposefully designed, developed and tested with one purpose in mind -- produce a pizza that rivals any pizza, anywhere.
I have enjoyed pizza from Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles. This is Nancy Silverton's place, the woman behind Silver Palate. The New York times rated it one of the best pizzas in the world. It is the crust and some unique toppings that make Mozza special.
Speaking with the manager at CBC, he shared that CBC Management brought in a chef from Los Angeles to formulate the recipe for the crust with special attention given to the humid climate. Are you thinking what I am thinking? An artisan was brought in from the Northeast to make the oven.
The crust is chewy, with just a bit of yeast and salt flavor. It has just the right amount of crispiness on the bottom to be easily held and folded, and the edges are slightly charred, as if it was posing for the cover of a foodie magazine.
A fantastic crust with fresh basil, mozzarella, and a spicy tomato sauce, baked in an 800+ degree brick oven, and you have the perfect margherita pizza. When the ingredients are fresh and the preparation perfect, I keep it simple and always just go for a margherita and a dark, amber, pint.
Other toppings are available. The pepperoni is excellent, the sausage divine. The diablo meat pie, would satisfy anyone's hunger for heat and protein. I recently tried the meat monster, and the pie was amazing with its smokey flavor.
Do yourself a favor. When you have that urge for pizza and beer. Take a drive to Clermont. You will be glad you did.

Thank you.
Keep the faith. Eat well and don't worry about the calories.
